Creative Media Recording provides audio-post for new Animal Planet TV series

Cypress based Creative Media Recording has been tapped to provide audio mixing and audio post-production for 10 episodes of a new reality TV series currently airing on the Animal Planet network entitled Who Let The Dogs Out.

The new show features the exploits of Tillman the Skateboarding Dog (made famous by YouTube) and Norman the Scooter Dog as they travel the continental U.S. in an RV in search of other canines and animals with special skills to be a part of the series. The TV show is co-produced by Natural Balance Pet Foods and PETCO, shot on location around the country and is edited and mixed here in Southern California. The series currently airs on Saturday mornings at 10:00am EST / 9:00am CST.

Creative Media provides special sound effects and dog noises as needed as well as additional background ambient sounds to each episode. A final broadcast ready mix with some audio cleaned up and all the levels balanced out is then provided for the video editors.

Serving video producers and ad agencies for over three decades, Creative Media Recording has provided award winning media recording and voice-over services for a variety of projects.

Guy Fieri visits Creative Media Recording

Noted chef and host of the hit Food Network television show Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives was recently in the Cypress studios of Creative Media Recording to do some voiceover recording. The energetic TV host travels the nation in search of the hidden gems of independent 'mom and pop' restaurants that serve great food. Guy Fieri calls it "real food from real people."

Fieri was in West Orange County the second week of February filming segments for DD&D. Page Productions, the producers of the show, contracted with CMR to record voiceover elements for two complete episodes that were nearly finalized and ready for airing. The producer of the program listened in via digital phone patch and the completed audio files were uploaded to an FTP server for use by the video editors. The voiceover covered episodes that were shot in Hawaii, Santa Cruz and other spots in the U.S.

CMR Sweetens Blimp Hangar Documentary

Creative Media Recording was recently tapped to provide complete audio sweetening services on a half hour documentary on the history and construction of the Tustin Blimp Hangars. The program, entitled Titans of History, was created and produced for the City of Tustin by Orange County filmmaker Peter Buffa of Petrone Productions. It featured interviews with a former base commander and the son of the owner of the construction firm that originally built the massive hangars in the 1940's after the start of World War II.

CMR was asked to provide a production music score, historical sound effects and ambient sound as well as narration for segments throughout the video. The challenge was to replicate the sounds of construction to match the footage from the 1940's. Historical airplane engine sounds were used to simulate the sound of flying blimps for footage shot from the ground and in the cockpit.

The documentary took Buffa months of extensive research to complete. The historical footage he discovered had little to no sync sound and CMR combed their extensive sound effects library and other resources to enhance the audio elements. The production music used in the program came from several different production libraries at CMR and matched the mood of video.

While originally created for local use in Tustin as part of the Marine Base Reuse Project, Buffa hopes to find airtime for the documentary on local broadcast outlets as well.

Creative Media Recording Celebrates
20 Years in Cypress

Creative Media Recording recently celebrated their 20th anniversary at their Cypress location. In the fall of 1988 construction of the two studio facility was completed and the business relocated from nearby Garden Grove to the Warland Business Park in Cypress.

Creative Media has now been owned for over 30 years by sound designer Tim Keenan and his wife, Linda. Their clients include major corporations, advertising agencies and independent communication production companies throughout Southern California.

Recent projects include providing audio for a 10 part training series for Mercedes Benz; a series of web based modules for nurse continuing education; and a number of radio and TV spots for Final Inches Medical Body Shaping Centers of Southern California, among others.

The technology used in the recording industry has changed over those past two decades and CMR has kept up with those changes. Creative Media Recording recently installed a new MAC based computerized digital audio workstation. CMR continues to maintain an extensive, up to date library of legally clearable production music and sound effects for use in projects. ISDN capabilities allow full fidelity, real-time access to studios and voice talent around world.
